Jeff Setzer was born and reared in North Carolina where he attended both public and Christian schools. In 1982, he graduated from Tabernacle Christian School of Hickory, NC and attended Pensacola Christian College in Florida. In 1986, he graduated with a B.A. in Bible, with two summers of youth evangelism with Neighborhood Bible Time. He also worked at the WILDS Christian camp in 1987 and taught fifth grade at Tabernacle Christian School in Hickory, NC the following year. After assisting Evangelist Dave Kistler and pursuing additional studies for a year at Ambassador Baptist College in Shelby, NC, Jeff served for a year at Liberty Baptist Church in Sevierville, TN. While there, he met
Heather in an evangelistic meeting at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hickory, NC. He soon moved back to North Carolina, working various jobs until he and Heather married in December of 1993. Heather attended Tennessee Temple University and Bob Jones University, where she graduated in 1993 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in music. After marriage, they served 3 years at Faith Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN, serving in youth, music, and children's ministry. It was during this time that they heard a creation evangelist for the first time and began to be burdened to reach young people with creation. Later, while traveling with an evangelist, they developed VBS programs using many different resources. As a result of their burden and studies, they changed their ministry name in 2000 from "Youth Bible Crusade" to "Creation Family Ministries," a multi-faceted Biblical education ministry that uses God’s creation to edify and evangelize all ages!
